The Minister of the Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (CS), Admir Katica, confirmed that the Police Directorate of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs has signed a contract for the procurement of two additional special-purpose vehicles capable of performing a wide range of operations.

The vehicles can transport up to ten specially equipped police officers, making them essential for situations requiring fast and secure transport. They can also serve as barriers in crisis scenarios.

These vehicles are crucial for special operations that demand top-tier technical performance and resistance to various weather conditions.

The total value of the contract for procuring the two new special-purpose vehicles for the needs of the Police Directorate of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs is 2.3 million BAM (excluding VAT).

“To enhance the efficiency and mobility of police officers within the Police Directorate of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs, we have signed a contract for two additional armored vehicles designed to protect citizens’ personal safety, property, and critical infrastructure in cases of general danger or widespread public disorder, as well as in cases of terrorist or other violent acts. This brings us closer to our goal of building the best and strongest special unit in the country,” said Katica.

He added that these vehicles can also be used to prevent crimes, locate and apprehend offenders, assist other organizational units in securing public gatherings, and implement measures and actions in the field of general prevention. If necessary, they can also provide support to other security agencies.

“The largest number of public gatherings requiring significant police engagement occurs in CS. Moreover, the area hosts numerous institutions of vital importance at the state, federal, and cantonal levels, as well as diplomatic-consular missions and various international organizations. The number of sports and concert venues, as well as other similar facilities, is also considerable. Therefore, our police must be maximally equipped to respond adequately in all situations,” Katica stated, adding that significant strengthening of police resources with material and technical equipment is planned for 2025.
