10 Million Eggs from BiH went to European Facilities

Stabilization of production in the poultry sector affected the drop in the price of eggs by up to 20 percent compared to the beginning of the year but also enabled the only domestic exporter from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to place around 10 million pieces of this important food on the European Union (EU) market.

This was said by the owner and director of the only company from BiH that has a license to export eggs, “Agreks” from Donji Zabar. He pointed out that the first trucks with eggs, intended for processing, left in mid-February this year.

“Six months before that, there was no egg export at all, neither to the countries of the region nor to the EU market, because producers gave priority in supply to consumers in BiH,” Milicic said.

He added that they are satisfied with the achieved results, although, in the second part of July and the beginning of August, that export is somewhat weaker.

Furthermore, Milicic stated that export provides them with a strategic advantage over the competition because they sell eggs that are a maximum of 3-4 days old on the market of BiH and the region, that is CEFTA countries.

“We export table eggs to the countries of the region, but those are smaller quantities,” said Milicic.

According to him, in recent months there has been a significant drop in the price of eggs both on the domestic and foreign markets.

“Compared to the beginning of the year, eggs are now cheaper by about 20 percent. The drop in prices was influenced by the cheapening of production inputs, but also lower consumption. In the summer months, egg prices normally fall,” explained Milicic, Biznis Info reports.
