These news did not surprise experts, Branko Kovacevic, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EPS, says that this is an old idea and that they are discussing about this issue for some time:
“Our plan is to buy the distribution in the RS and Montenegro. What we are most interested in is hydropower and electricity which we would receive in this way and the RS is especially interesting for because we share Drina River with them and we have and the possibility of spreading to the whole of BiH. This investment would be financially worthwhile, because we would have the ability to sell electricity in the region.”
By the act of purchasing part of “Elektroprivreda of the RS”, we could speed up many joint projects. Among the biggest energy plans of Serbia and BiH is the construction of three hydroelectric power plants on the Drina River in the amount of 870 million euros, and the plant should have a capacity of 320 megawatts. However, the entire project is on hold because of property issues in BiH.
