“We are entering a more mature age that requests more responsibility and dealing with problems. In the last 20 years, the Inter-Religious Council has shown its readiness, courage, and determination to cooperate and respect the other. The motto of our work is: ‘The other is sacred to us,” said Bishop Grigorije Duric, the Chairman of the IRC.
Deputy of Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Smajic said that the IRS expanded its activities to 15 cities in BiH and he also expressed his regret that, despite all the efforts, a committee in Mostar was not established, but he hopes that this will be done very soon.
The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, said that dialogue is their constant commitment that has no other alternative and that, despite all the crises they are facing with, they are mature enough to deal with them.
The Declaration of the Inter-religious Council on the status of persons who survived sexual violence during the war in BiH was also signed last night it the National Theater of BiH.
“The Declaration will not solve all the problems but it will help us to be able to look each other in the eyes and try to heal the wounds of those who suffered in the war,” said Jakob Finci, the President of the Jewish Community of BiH and member of the IRC BiH.
He added that he is hoping that politicians will follow their example and visit war sites of all sides.
When it comes to future plans, no concrete steps were mentioned, but they will continue to focus on expanding activities of the Council in the entire BiH as well as the continuation of mutual cooperation.
