359 Pre-school Institutions with 28.511 Children in BiH

Pre-school education

In the school year 2018/2019, on the territory of BiH, there were 359 pre-school institutions with 28.511 children. Compared to the previous school year, the number of pre- school institutions is 8,1% higher, the number of children in pre-school institutions increased by 10,1%, and the number of employees is 9,8% higher.

Basic schools

In the school year 2018/2019, on the territory of BiH, there were 280.018 pupils enrolled in 1.803 schools, which was 2.928pupils less or 1% lower in comparison with the previous year. In the school year 2018/2019, there were 24.175 teachers included in the education process out of which 17.527 or 72.5% women.

Secondary schools

In the school year 2018/2019, on the territory of BiH, there were 117.475 pupils enrolled in 313 schools, which was 6.673 pupils less or 5,4 % lower in comparison with the previous year. In the school year 2018/2019, there were 12.551 teachers included in the education process, out of which 7.736 or 61,6 % were women.

Higher education

In the academic year 2018/2019, there were 87.696 students enrolled in winter semester of the first cycle of higher education, including integrated studies, out of which 75.952students were enrolled in all study years, while 11.744 were candidates for graduation. In 2018 there were 14.220 students who graduated/completed the first cycle of higher education, including integrated studies, which was 2,5 % lower in comparison with the previous year. Out of the total number of graduated students, 59 % were female.
