An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck the Banda Sea in Indonesia, the German Institute for Geosciences Research said.
The institute said the epicenter was at a depth of 137 kilometers.
The Indonesian Geophysics Agency said the earthquake had no tsunami potential.
The Banda Sea is a part of the Pacific Ocean in Indonesia, surrounded by the island of Sulawesi to the west and the Moluccas to the north.
