A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea’s New Britain region on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake struck at 16:33 GMT, 71 kilometres east of Kokoppe, the capital of East New Britain province.
The quake’s epicentre was initially identified at 4.21 degrees south latitude and 152.89 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometres, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.
