A commemoration was held on Tuesday evening for the tragically deceased former player and coach of FK Sarajevo Dženan Uščuplić.
FK Sarajevo announced that family members, friends, colleagues and supporters of FK Sarajevo paid their respects to the tragically killed former player and coach of the Sarajevo Football Club in the packed Sarajevo Youth Theatre.
Sarajevo President Ismir Mirvić sent an audio message in which he said that Uščuplić will remain an inspiration for generations to come and that he was honored to be in the company of such a great man.
At the commemoration, Semir Zilić, Mehmed Janjoš, Nermin Gogalić and Mevludin Mekić spoke about Dženan’s character and work.
Uščuplić died on Thursday on the Zelengora mountain from a lightning strike.
The former coach and player of the Bordeaux club was born on August 18, 1975. In the younger categories, he played for Željezničar, and he started his senior career at FK Sarajevo.
As a player, he was the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Sarajevo, and he won the Cup of our country three times.
Uščuplić ended his playing career in 2002 due to a serious injury.
After that, he started coaching, and he was the youth champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Sarajevo three times and won the Cup three times.
In 2015, he led the senior team of Sarajevo to the championship title, and in 2014 and 2021, he won the BiH Cup with the Bordeaux team.
