A Conference on Biological Engineering and Digitization will be held in Sarajevo

From September 14 to 16, Sarajevo will host the International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBEBIH’23) and the Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing (MEDICON’23), which will gather more than 300 scientific, economic and political authorities from 40 countries.

Director of the Verlab Institute, Lejla Gurbeta Pokvić, emphasized that the conference has a double focus and importance.

“On the one hand, its scientific importance is highlighted through the presentation and publication of important research papers in Springer’s proceedings. On the other hand, it emphasizes its goal to popularize the concepts of digital and green transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, spreading the basic principles of these innovative ideas among a wider audience,” said Gurbeta Pokvić.

“Move the boundaries – towards digital and sustainable!” is the motto of the conference, and the special focus is on establishing cooperation between the academic community and the private sector through digital innovation centers.

The participation of the European digital innovation center SmartHealth from Greece is expected, which will share its experiences and knowledge with the digital innovation center “its4Health”. It is one of the four centers supported by the “EU4DigitalSME” project, which is financed by the European Delegation and the Government of Germany.

As part of the conference, there will be an event called “Digitalization, an innovative opportunity for your business!” which will attract around 100 participants from the public and private sectors of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The conference is being held with the support of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton, the City of Sarajevo, the European delegation and the Government of Germany, and under the auspices of Denis Bećirević, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
