Almost every day, heartbreaking stories emerge from Gaza, and one of the perhaps most difficult scenes is that of a father desperately trying to locate the grave, that is, the burial site, of his three-month-old daughter.
The father of the newborn and the grandfather had to search around the rubble to locate the grave of the baby.
Ahmad Mohamed Faliuna, searching for his daughter, said he decided to find the grave even though he himself was injured and could barely walk.
“My name is Ahmad Mohamed Faliuna. I am injured. Both my legs are injured, both knees, and my hands are injured. I’m going to look for my daughter, whom I buried near the tent. I come here against my will because I can’t even walk, but I have to come to find my daughter. Here we go, me and my father, we’re going to dig together,” said the distraught Palestinian.
Injured Ahmad and his father had to dig graves in a harrowing attempt to find the baby who, after being killed in an Israeli attack, was buried in an improvised graveyard near Al-Shifa Hospital.
Israeli forces withdrew from the area, after which Ahmad decided to find the grave of his daughter so she could be properly buried.
As the horrific war rages across northern Gaza, residents face many challenges, including unearthing their improperly buried family members.
The number of casualties in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has reached 33.137, with 75.815 injured, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
