A Historic Rise of BiH’s Arms Industry

Companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) exported nearly 344 million BAM worth of weapons and ammunition in the first ten months of this year.

This marks an impressive 37.5% increase compared to the same period last year, highlighting the scale of the industry’s expansion.

It is worth noting that BiH’s arms industry has been growing steadily for years. However, it now seems to have reached a point of growth that could be called historic, as local giants are making their return to the global stage.

Companies like Igman, Pretis, Ginex, and Binas are experiencing significant increases in production and revenue, contributing to the development of their local communities.

Of course, this boom is primarily driven by the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Nevertheless, this could be an opportunity for our companies to enhance and modernize their production processes, establish strong international partnerships, and gain the trust of major buyers, particularly in NATO countries.

Such advancements would allow them to sustain growth and development even after the war in Ukraine ends.

According to available information, this is exactly what is happening now. BiH firms are working with foreign partners, particularly with the United States (U.S.), to align their practices and final products with NATO countries’ standards and modern requirements.

Given the vast size of this market, there is plenty of room for growth. We can only hope that the war in Ukraine will end soon, but that the rise of our industry will continue.
