A Man surrendered to the German Police and confessed the Knife Attack at the Festival

A 26-year-old Syrian man is suspected of a knife attack in the western German city of Solingen that killed three and injured eight people, authorities said on August 25.

The suspect surrendered and confessed to the crime, the Düsseldorf police and prosecutor’s office said in a joint statement.

“The involvement of this person is currently under intensive investigation,” they said.

The attack, for which the group so-called “Islamic State”, happened on Friday night at a festival celebrating the 650th anniversary of the city’s existence.

“The suspect is linked to the Solingen refugee center that was searched on Saturday,” authorities said.

ISIL has not provided any evidence for its claim and it is unclear how close the link is between the attackers and the group.
