A new earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale has been registered near the capital of Myanmar, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The epicentre of the quake was 19 kilometres from the capital, at a depth of 10 kilometres, the EMSC said.
The country was hit by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake yesterday, with tremors felt in Bangladesh, India, Laos, China and Thailand.
Media earlier reported that the death toll in the earthquake in Myanmar had exceeded 1,000, with more than 2,300 injured.
