A powerful Earthquake hit Taiwan

A strong 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck southeast Taiwan on Sunday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck off the coast of Changbin in Taitung County at around 7 p.m. local time, the USGS said.

The tremor struck at a depth of 31.1 kilometers (19.3 miles).

Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Administration said the quake was stronger, with a magnitude of 6.4.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. No tsunami warning was issued following the quake.
