An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the northern area of the Molucca Sea, off the coast of Indonesia, the German Center for Geoscience Research (GFZ) announced.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of ten kilometers, about 147 kilometers northwest of the town of Tobelo, in the province of North Maluku.
There is no information on possible victims or material damage, but moderate aftershocks are possible in the coming days, it was announced on the website “Crysis 24”.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
