Abraham Group Signs 20-Year U.S. LNG Deal for Aluminij Mostar at Washington Energy Summit

The Abraham Group, led by Israeli businessman Amir Gross Kabiri, announced that it has signed a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement.

The company stated that the Transatlantic Summit on Gas Supply Security was held yesterday in Washington. The summit was organized by Doug Burgum, Chair of the National Energy Dominance Council and U.S. Secretary of the Interior, and Chris Wright, Vice Chair of the Council and U.S. Secretary of Energy.

At the summit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Amir Gross Kabiri, President of the Abraham Group, and Alexandros Exarchou, President of the Greek energy company Atlantic-Sea LNG Trade, establishing a framework for a long-term LNG supply agreement.

According to the company, the agreement secures a stable supply of U.S. LNG for Aluminij Industrija in Mostar, a subsidiary of the Abraham Group and, as they claim, one of the largest aluminum producers in Southeast Europe.

The signed Memorandum represents the basis for a 20-year LNG supply contract, which is expected to be finalized and formally signed by the end of this year.

The LNG will be supplied by Venture Global Commodities via the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline and will be used in the planned combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of Aluminij Industrija. The CCGT plant, they stated, will ensure a stable electricity supply for the primary aluminum production at the company’s smelter.

The Abraham Group considers the project to be the most significant U.S. LNG supply initiative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.

They added that the transaction is part of the strategic goals of U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at strengthening transatlantic cooperation in ensuring secure and diversified LNG supplies in Europe, including increased U.S. LNG exports to Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.

Kabiri expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the Abraham Group by the U.S. administration, which, as he emphasized, selected the company to serve as the lead importer of U.S. LNG to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This will ensure a stable energy supply in Herzegovina, support industrial development, create new jobs and enable the economy to reach its full potential,” he added.

He also thanked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle for, as he stated, her determination and commitment in laying the groundwork for further development of the energy sector in the Balkans. Kabiri concluded that the active presence of the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina encourages new investment inflows, thereby ensuring continued growth and stability.
