During the regular testing, athletes provide two samples of blood or urin, one bottle is used as the A sample and the other one as the B sample. According to the information by the Anty-Doping Agency, Ćatić’s A sample was positive for an illicit substance stanozolol.
Ćatić said that everything that has been going on is strange.
“The test is usually done 10 to14 days after the fight, not eight weeks after. My attorney is working on this case and I am not worried at all. The substance that I have allegedly been taking increases the muscle mass, and I did not need that at all,Ćatić said.
Ćatić added that he will exercise his right and demand for a B sample test.
“Of course, we will resort to that right. Besides, the Association of Professional German Boxers is not notified about this. Only my fitness coach and I were notified. This is all very strange, concluded Ćatić, who is currently spending a vacation in BiH.
In February this year Ćatić defeated Fedor Chudinov and became the world boxing champion by WBA version in middleweight division for the fifth time.
If it turns out that he had been using an illicit substance, in addition to the revocation of the title he will also face a two-year suspension.
