Alpinists in ‘Superhero’ Costumes distributed New Year’s Gifts Children in Hospitals

Alpinists disguised as “superheroes” from cartoons, descending with ropes down the building of the Pediatric Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, distributed New Year’s gifts to sick children.

This urban hiking campaign was organized by the Mountaineering Club of Priština and Care for Kosovo Kids, with the aim of raising awareness to raise funds for the specific needs of small patients diagnosed with cancer. “Spiderman”, “Batman”, “Hulk” and other characters descended on ropes down the multi-story Pediatric Clinic and stopped at the windows on all floors to give symbolic New Year’s gifts to children.

Mergimtare Berisha, who was dressed as the cartoon character Wonder Woman, told Anadolu that the event was organized to ensure that children who will spend New Year’s Eve in the hospital do not feel alone.

Since 2013, the organization “Care for Kosovo Kids” provides all medicines for children being treated for cancer at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo.

About 50 new cases of cancer in children are diagnosed in Kosovo every year.
