After the reception in the historic “Roosevelt’s room” in the West Wing of the White House, the official presentation of credential letters took place at the Oval Office of the President of the United States.
“It has been 20 years since the United States have helped with the Dayton Peace Agreement, which brought peace after more than 3 years of brutal war. B&H and its citizens have made important progress in the recovery from these difficult times. We are proud to be able to support the reconstruction of the country, to help strengthen its institutions and to be able to help B&H in rebuilding of its reconstruction,” said the President of USA.
As part of the expected goals and future activities, President Obama emphasized that the goal of the United States will remain the completion of the transition process towards a prosperous B&H democracy, firmly anchored with the Euro-Atlantic community.
“B&H already made a very important step towards planned goals related to membership in NATO and the European Union, but it is still facing with many challenges. B&H has to implement key political and economic reforms. The United States remains ready to help and give full support to the reform course that needs to move B&H forward,” said President Obama.
“Mr. Ambassador, I expect to cooperate with you on behalf of our common agenda and I expect the continuation of a strong and continuous deepening of friendship between our two countries”, concluded President Obama on the ceremonial presentation of credential letters of the newly appointed B&H Ambassador.
