The director of the company “Dacit” in Srebrenica, Petar Kovacevic, said that the preparations for the start of exploitation of dacite stone are in the final phase.
He says that the opening of this company was prolonged due to his health condition and other administrative tasks that need time to be completed. ”It is true that my health condition slowed down the preparations, but it is certain that the works will begin. We are still waiting to get a permit to carry out the works and the commission to go to the site, after which we will start the work, which should be soon,” said Kovacevic.
Also, he mentioned that he spoke with the mayor of the municipality of Srebrenica about it and informed him of the preparatory works so far. The Government of the RepublikaSrpska (RS) granted this company a concession in February 2021, and on the Day of the municipality of Srebrenica, the start of the work of this company was announced as soon as weather conditions allow it.
The concession was granted for a period of 25 years, and the total value of the investment for the realization of this project is 313,000 BAM.
When signing the concession in April of the same year, the concessionaire undertook, in accordance with the contract, after putting the quarry into commercial operation, to pay the concession fee in the amount of 5 percent of the revenues generated by the concession activity to the budget of the RS, of which 90 percent of the funds will be directed to the budget of the municipality of Srebrenica, it was announced at the time from the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the RS.
Also, it was previously said that after the start of the quarry work, it is planned to provide an investment of around 25 million euros for the construction of a stone wool factory made of dacite, which is used in Europe as an insulating material and replaces Styrofoam, which, he said, will soon be withdrawn from use.
Kovacevic pointed out that the company will produce about 50,000 tons of stone wool and employ 150 to 200 workers, while the initial plan is to employ 25 people, Biznis Info reports.
