On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH), the Mission of BiH at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, held a ceremonial reception.
Along with BiH Minister of Defense Sifet Podzic, the hosts of the reception were BiH Ambassador to NATO Headquarters Mitar Kujundjic, head of the military part of the BiH Mission to NATO and military representative of BiH to the European Union(EU), Brigadier Edin Fako, and deputy head of the military part of the BiH Mission to NATO and military envoy of BiH in the Kingdom of Belgium Brigadier Darijo Pajic, with associates.
The reception was attended by a large number of officials from the International Headquarters of NATO, the International Military Headquarters of NATO, ambassadors and military representatives of partner countries, representatives of the International Headquarters of the EU, military representatives to the EU, military envoys accredited in the Kingdom of Belgium, as well as the staff of the Mission of BiH at the EU.
In an appropriate address, Brigadier Fako highlighted the achievements of the AFBiH in the past period, particularly highlighting the activities to help civil institutions in times of natural disasters and the success of the Light Infantry Battalion Group, which is at this year’s final assessment NEL-2, which was carried out by NATO evaluators and partner countries, was declared combat-ready and received an “excellent” rating.
He emphasized the great cooperation with NATO and partner countries from the EU. The chairman of the NATO Military Committee (MC), Admiral Rob Bauer, also addressed the audience, who in his speech praised the AFBiH as a stable partner, who justified the claim that the defense reform is the most successful reform in BiH.
The admiral expressed his expectations for the continued improvement of relations with BiH and the joining of BiH to Euro-Atlantic integration. Guests of the reception could also watch promotional films about BiH, including a video about the successful NEL-2 assessment at the Manjaca training ground, Klix.ba reports.
