Another strong Earthquake hits Philippines

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit the southern Philippines, the US Geological Survey said today.

The aftershock occurred a day after an even stronger earthquake in the same region killed two people and a tsunami warning was issued.

The new earthquake, one of several strong aftershocks that rocked the region yesterday, occurred at 6:36 p.m. local time at a depth of 56 kilometers on the island of Mindanao and disturbed the population, AP reported.

It’s the same area where residents fled to higher ground the night before, following a magnitude 7.6 earthquake.
