The most innovative company is a successful BH startup – Ministry of Programming, the winner of Startup Battle is Koola, which was started by a team of talented entrepreneurs from BiH, while the mascot of EYOF 2019 is Groodvey, which is the conceptual solution of the agency Visia from East Sarajevo.
This year’s Sarajevo Unlimited gathered participants from more than 20 countries, received applications from more than hundred startups, and more than 3000 visitors followed the program of this forum. Three full days of a program that took place in five locations, numerous inspirational and successful examples from the startup culture, the large interest of investors, excellent speakers, involvement and interest of domestic institutions and companies – are positive signal that Sarajevo Unlimited has initiated some important changes last year.
The first day of the Forum, before the official, spectacular opening, was marked by an event called Startup Battle, and 20 best startups from the region, which passed the first round of selections in October, presented their ideas on it. The winner of this battle was announced on the last day of the forum after the jury selected the best startup named Koola, which received the cash prize of 5000 BAM.
Eight panels, six keynote speakers, eight ‘Skills of Tomorrow’ workshops, are just some of the important results of three days long forum of innovations. A B2B Bisnode event took place as well, and it gathered 90 companies and resulted in 12 agreements. Six most innovative projects were presented, which were the result of the project “Strengthening the role of local communities in BiH”, which was supported by the governments of Switzerland and Sweden and implemented by the UNDP. The fair of innovations within Sarajevo Unlimited gathered a total of 80 startups, and it was visited by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdic.
The title of the most innovative company of Sarajevo Unlimited was awarded to BH startup Ministry of Programming at the event that was organized by the Council of Foreign Investors in BiH. The President of Council of Foreign Investors Branimir Muidza noted that Sarajevo was placed on the map of countries which follow the active startup ICT scene with the organization of “Sarajevo Unlimited 2017”, and now it is clear to everyone in BiH that future development cannot be based exclusivelly, for example, on the exploitation of forests and ores. “We need to focus on what Western countries are doing. The fourth industrial revolution is taking place in the 21st century, and the ICT sector represents “the fuel”. Therefore, this is a very good opportunity for young innovators and young companies to find their way to the market,” noted Muidza.
Three days long forum of innovations was ended with ovations of participants and the promise and the announcement that the third edition in Sarajevo will be a new opportunity for talents and innovative projects to meet with partners and investors.
Partners from eight regional countries in region and official partners of forum gave the support to this year’s Sarajevo Unlimited, including: Government of Switzerland with projects YEP, Market Makers and Prilika Plus, as well as m:tel, Logosoft and Raiffeisen bank, with the support of UNDP, the City of Sarajevo, Canton Sarajevo and the Council of Ministers of BiH.
