Within the festival’s theme “Apiculture as a generator of employing” there will be a positive example by the foundation “Will power” presented; a foundation which hired 40 people in the past year, 35 out of them handicapped. They were all working on bee hives.
In a very short notice, a great level of production quality has been achieved, along with the highly competitive prices.
The steps to take in the future are related to certification and expanding of the production offer.
Besides that, the “Will power” foundation is also implementing a project entitled “Bee hive for a better life of a person with mental disability”. Within this project, 20 hives will be assigned to 20 children from the Vladimir Nazor centre in Sarajevo on Wednesday.
On that occasion, contracts will be signed with their parents, and it is foreseen that all the honey produced in those hives in the year to come should be donated to these children. The goal of this action is to ensure continuous support to the families of the children with special needs by placing the hives produced by handicapped person on the market at the same time.
The Foundation “Will power” invites all interested donators and individuals to join the project which tends to ensure hives for 1 500 children with special needs, as this is the exact number in the Canton of Sarajevo.
This activity is organized in cooperation of the Festival’s directorate, the Foundation “Will power” and USAID/Sida FARMA project.
In the period to come, the experts of the USAID/Sida FARMA project will help the Foundation to create a brand and a promotional strategy for the honey produced by the handicapped persons.
During the festival, other successful examples of employing and socially responsible business in the apiculture sector will also be presented while the beekeepers will have the opportunity to exchange experiences in order to find the best ways to keep the bees in winter time and to supply a continuous pasturage for them.
