Next week, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina plans to hold an appeal session on the first-instance verdict by which two former members of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) were sentenced to a total of seven years in prison, while three others were acquitted, Detektor confirmed.
The hearing for presenting appeals against the verdict is scheduled for Thursday, January 15. Slaviša Đerić was sentenced to three years and Nenad Ujić to four years in prison, while Zoran Nešković, Panto Pantović and Pero Despet were acquitted.
Inhuman treatment of civilians
Đerić and Ujić were found guilty by the BiH Court of inhumane treatment of civilians from the areas of Žepa, Rogatica and Srebrenica from July to December 1995. As members of the Military Police, guards in the “Rasadnik” detention facility, they beat the detainees and caused them physical and mental suffering. Among other things, Ujić treated witness M-3 inhumanely.
An acquittal was passed for 15 counts of the indictment. Among these charges is the accusation of inhumane treatment and murder of Imam Mehmed Hajrić, president of the Žepa War Presidency, which applies to all five accused.
Hearing for Mića Olović
On the same day, a hearing was scheduled where Mićo Olović, accused of a crime against humanity committed in the area of Foča in 1992, will plead guilty. According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Olović, as a superior to the police officers of the Miljevina station department, issued orders and personally participated in the arrests, taking away and illegal imprisonment of civilians.
