The Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE (BHK CIGRE) sent a congratulatory message to academician Kemal Hanjalić, the winner of this year’s “April 6 Award of the City of Sarajevo”.
Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
“Academician Kemal Hanjalić is our distinguished member and recipient of the “Recognition for Lifetime Achievement”, which is the highest award given by BH K CIGRE. Hanjalić is worthy of the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of science and development, as well as for support in the work and affirmation of BH K CIGRA, and I sincerely congratulate him on the well-deserved “April 6 Award”, stated Edhem Bičakčić, president of BH K CIGRA.
Hanjalić is a university professor and doctor of technical sciences. In the 1980s, he was the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo, and the mayor of Sarajevo who initiated and led the creation of the first BiH Science and Technology Development Strategy, as well as a project to modernize and renew research equipment at all universities in BiH. He teaches at numerous universities and is the recipient of several awards and recognitions.
He defended his doctoral dissertation back in 1970 at the prestigious Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London. He has published several books and several hundred papers in journals and conferences. He is a member of four academies of sciences, and since 1981 he has been a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Academician Kemal Hanjalić is also one of the reviewers of the monograph, published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of BH K CIGRE, which, as he stated in the review, provides a significant contribution to the affirmation of the power industry.
