The death toll from a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has risen to 126, with 188 people injured, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Chinese state television had earlier reported 95 dead and 130 injured.
The quake struck in the morning in Dingri County, in the city of Shigaze, a rural area popular with tourists due to its proximity to Mount Everest.
