The coach of the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sergej Barbarez, said that his players deserve all the praise, despite being eliminated from the United States of America in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
“When you lose, something is always missing. In a game where we were completely in control, we conceded a goal through our mistake. In the second half, we tried everything, these guys deserve a compliment. The expression on my face shows how happy I am even though today is a sad day,” Barbarez told Arena Sport BIH.
Barbarez added that his players had several opportunities to equalize, but also that the opponent punished their every mistake.
“It is difficult to repeat the stories from Wales and against Italy from Zenica (in the play-off for the World Cup). There were a couple of good situations, at the end of the day you concede a goal from a free kick, that’s sport,” he pointed out.
Barbarez especially thanked the BIH fans for their support.
“I love all these people who support us, all of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Barbarez concluded.
The soccer players of the United States of America qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup, as they beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2:0 in San Francisco.
The USA will play against Belgium in Seattle on July 6 in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
