Base Salary for Police Officers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Increased

At a telephone session held today, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting on the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, adopted a decision granting consent to the Agreement on the salary base for calculating the salaries of police officers.

The agreement, which applies to the Federal Police Administration and the Federal Court Police of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sets the salary base at 540 BAM for the calculation of police officers’ salaries. The new base will be applied starting from January 1, 2026.

According to available information, the salary base for the previous year amounted to 480 BAM. Given that the lowest coefficient for police officers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is 2.70, which applies to the rank of police officer, the new base means that a federal police officer will have a basic salary of approximately 1,450 BAM, which includes additional allowances such as night shifts, weekend work, and work on public holidays.

In order to determine the salary base for police officers, a draft decision was prepared, with the Agreement on the salary base forming an integral part. The agreement is concluded between the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Union of Employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In explaining the reasons for adopting the decision, the proposer noted that the Law on Salaries and Benefits of Police Officers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina stipulates that the salary calculation base is determined on the basis of the lowest net hourly wage agreed between the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the union. This is calculated by multiplying the lowest net hourly wage by the monthly fund of working hours, Klix.ba writes.
