Becirovic asked Foreign Ambassadors to urgently increase EUFOR Forces

BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to BiH Luigi Soreca and the ambassadors of EU member states accredited to BiH and informed them in detail and warned them about the dangerous attacks on the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH by the leadership of the BiH entity RS.

The meeting was attended by diplomatic representatives of: the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of France, the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, the Kingdom of Spain, the Republic of Ireland, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Kingdom of Sweden, Romania, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Italy, Greece, the Slovak Republic, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Republic of Finland, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Czech Republic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Hungary, and the Kingdom of Norway – the contact point of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina with NATO.

Bećirović emphasized, among other things, that without protecting the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, peace and stability in the country cannot be preserved.

During the meeting, he called for urgent and decisive action by the international community to prevent anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional actions that could have unforeseeable consequences. In this context, he stressed the need for the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina to act in accordance with the Bonn powers.

He called on the EU to take concrete steps to preserve peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including increasing the number of EUFOR troops. He stressed the importance of EUFOR effectively and decisively implementing its mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and, due to the deteriorating security situation, deploying reserve forces in key strategic areas.

EUFOR’s core tasks are to preserve the independence, sovereignty and state borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as continuous support to the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bećirović stressed the importance of sending a message that the state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO and EUFOR will respond decisively and in any way necessary to protect peace and the state.

Bećirović, among other things, said that, together with BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić, he had requested an extraordinary session of the BiH Presidency to discuss the internal political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in connection with the attack by the authorities of the RS entity on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović stated that today he had filed a request with the Constitutional Court of BiH to review the constitutionality of laws and other acts by which the authorities of the RS entity brutally violated the norms of the BiH Constitution.
