After the series of condemnations that followed the statement of the high representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, about Alija Izetbegović and the war criminal Ratko Mladić, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, also commented.

“Before High Representative Christian Schmidt scandalously equated the first president of the BiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegović, with the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić, I decided to be the patron of the Academy again this year on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the death of the first president of the BiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegović,” stated Becirovic at the beginning.

He pointed out that his views were and remain crystal clear.

“We will never allow the defenders of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be equated with war criminals,” said Bećirović.

Let’s recall that Schmidt compared the first president of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović, to the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
