Becirovic-Radev: Continuation of Reforms is Crucial for BiH’s Progress on the EU Path

BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović spoke by phone with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev. During the substantive conversation, the interlocutors confirmed the strong bilateral partnership and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Bulgaria – the Office of BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović announced.

In this context, Bećirović recalled that the Republic of Bulgaria was the first country to recognize the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which represents a solid foundation for the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

He informed President Radev about the dangerous attacks on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried out by the leadership of the RS entity, emphasizing that this is an organized and dangerous undermining of the Dayton Peace Agreement. He emphasized that these are unilateral, unconstitutional acts directed against state institutions, the rule of law and the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that such a policy poses a threat to peace and security in all of Southeast Europe.

President Radev stressed that the Republic of Bulgaria will continue to provide full support to the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting this as extremely important for the stability and security of the entire region.

The interlocutors agreed that strengthening regional cooperation and continuing reform processes are of key importance for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path. They also expressed their readiness to further deepen the political, economic, cultural, defense and security relations between the two countries.

At the end of the conversation, Bećirović thanked President Radev for his support so far and expressed his belief that friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Bulgaria will continue to develop in the spirit of mutual respect and close cooperation, the statement said.
