Becirovic – Schiff: Strong Support for the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of BiH

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović discussed the current political situation in BiH with Senator Adam Schiff, a member of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee and an influential politician from California, and stressed the importance of the US continuing its strong support for the consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Bećirović recalled that the Dayton Agreement determined the interpreters of this international agreement. He emphasized that the entity of Republika Srpska is not the interpreter of the Dayton Agreement and it is unacceptable for the bodies of this entity to try to impose themselves as its interpreters, and that this is completely contrary to the Dayton Agreement.

He thanked Senator Schiff for his consistent commitment to defending democratic values ​​and the rule of law, both in the United States and in the broader international context.

In this spirit, Bećirović said that respecting the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the state judiciary is the foundation for preserving the legal order and institutional stability of the state.

He stressed that attacks on independent judicial institutions represent a direct blow to the democratic order, as well as to the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which requires a decisive response from the United States.

Bećirović stressed the importance of the United States continuing its strong support for the consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the unhindered work of state institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including an independent judiciary and law enforcement agencies.

Senator Adam Schiff expressed strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the determination of the United States to protect the Dayton Peace Agreement, peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Office of BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović announced.
