Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic received, in a farewell visit, the Ambassador of Ukraine to BiH, non-resident from the Republic of Croatia, Vasyl Kyrylych, it was announced from Becirovic’s office.
Becirovic pointed out the very good and constructive cooperation with Ambassador Kyrylych and assessed that his diplomatic mission additionally contributed to strengthening the bilateral relations of BiH and Ukraine.
He reiterated BiH’s continuous support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN). He particularly emphasized that since the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine, BiH has regularly joined the statements, initiatives, and decisions of the European Union (EU) condemning the aggression in international organizations. He expressed hope that the negotiations that have begun will, as soon as possible, result in the cessation of the war and the establishment of a just peace.
Ambassador Kyrylych thanked for the consistent and open support of BiH in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom, pointing out that such support has special value because it comes from a people who have gone through similar suffering. He especially thanked Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Becirovic for his statesmanlike and principled foreign policy activities and emphasized that such a policy is recognized also in wider international frameworks.
Becirovic reminded that so far he has spoken five times with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and particularly recalls the conversation with him during the visit to Kyiv in August 2023 together with the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Zeljko Komsic. The visit represented, among other things, a clear confirmation of BiH’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the state that is fighting to preserve independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The interlocutors agreed that it is also very important in the coming period to continue strengthening the friendship and cooperation of the two states.
