Political party agreements on the formation of government could never and will never be above the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the final and binding decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasized a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, reacting to a series of arbitrary and tendentious articles which unfoundedly link the issue of appointing the chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the issue of realizing the strategic foreign policy priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is my obligation and duty to respect and implement the aforementioned legal acts and decisions. All other political officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina have duties to respect them and implement them in accordance with their competencies,” stated Bećirović.
“People should be told the truth and pointed out the following facts: Decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are final and binding, they must be implemented.
The Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is changed in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not through party agreements.
The laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina are enforced until they are changed by the highest legislative body of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This refers, among other things, to the Law on the Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially to Article 84, which precisely states the following: The Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all subjects of defense, within its own constitutional and legal competencies, will carry out the necessary activities for the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO membership,” stated Bećirović.
When it comes to the appointment of the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, he points out that this issue is nothing new in the political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I will never make any move that will slow down the country’s path to NATO. On the contrary, I will support every move and every measure that will accelerate the path of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO. The agreement of the presidents of the parties that make up the new parliamentary majority is not a limitation or an obstacle for me,” said a member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović.
