Becirovic: “We will strengthen the Alliance between BiH and the United Kingdom“

Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović spoke with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to Bosnia and Herzegovina Julian Reilly about bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, as well as the challenges facing the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the context of the UK Government’s support for the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bećirović expressed satisfaction with the very good partnership relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK.

Reilly confirmed the UK’s commitment to protecting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also expressed support for the European and Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the strengthening of a multi-ethnic and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said that the UK Government will continue to be focused on providing various forms of bilateral assistance, with the aim of strengthening a democratic and free civil society.

Bećirović stressed the importance of the UK Government’s full involvement in the process of preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. He stressed that all politicians in the Western Balkans should respect international law and contribute to building stability and security in this part of Europe.

The interlocutors pointed out the importance of preserving the memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, emphasizing the importance of respecting international justice and solidarity. Bećirović thanked the UK for its support in adopting the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide in 1995.

They also discussed potential agreements that should strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, including easing the visa regime for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina when entering the UK, as well as continuing to improve cooperation in the field of defense and security. The importance of further direct investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also emphasized, a statement from the Office of the Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović.
