The Railways of FBiH introduced the first Talgo set of the modern “BH trains” on the route Sarajevo-Doboj-Sarajevo exactly one year ago, on September 26, 2016. Since then, the number of passengers was increased from day to day.
The Railways of FBiH reconnected “Sarajevo-Capljina” by BH train with the opening of the line to the south on June 8, 2017, and a fast “BH train” was introduced on that route with bus connections to Neum and Makarska on June 15, 2017. Moreover, the line Sarajevo-Banja Luka was reintroduced on August 1, 2017, and Tuzla was connected by the railway traffic with these two cities for the first time.
From the Railways of FBiH noted that the first indication that they made the right move by introducing these trains into traffic was when they had to introduce a double set of “BH trains” to the south because of the extremely large number of interested passengers and sold tickets on July 1, 2017. On the occasion of the World Championship in jumps that took place in Mostar on September 16, 2017, the Railways of FBiH introduced three additional compositions of “BH train” besides the regular line, because everyone was looking for a ticket more on that day.
“By appreciating the needs of users of our services, the Railways of FBiH are planning to connect Sarajevo with Bihac soon. We are already undertaking some activities that are primarily related to the electrification of one part of the “Una railway”, after which the conditions for connection of Sarajevo and Bihac by “BH train” will be fulfilled. That would mean the fulfillment of one of the strategic objectives of the Railways of FBiH – to connect all major cities in BiH by railway traffic,” as announced by the Public Relations Office of the Railways of FBiH.
