Big Action: 800 Volunteers participate in cleaning Tuzla

The 11th field action to clean up illegal landfills and waste started yesterday in Tuzla.

About 800 volunteers are involved in the action, and Kanita Salihovic, the project manager, emphasizes cooperation with activists in local communities.

September 16th finally arrived and all technical and logistical preparations have been successfully completed. A long period of preparation is behind us, so today we will have over 800 volunteers who will clean our city of Tuzla together with the local communities. We will cover a large area of the city, and in addition to local communities, schools are also included. This year we are working with 12 local communities. The locations that we are cleaning today are some locations that we cleaned in previous years, but due to negligent disposal of waste, we have to clean the same areas again,” Kanita Salihovic stated yesterday.

Field actions will be carried out at the locations of the Ilincica excursion site, the Slana Banja promenade, and in the area of Livnica company – Bosnian Cultural Centre (BCC) Tuzla park.

Year after year, the number of volunteers increases. Through our education project, we teach young people that they should participate in such actions and together make the world a better place to live. The volunteers are from primary and secondary schools, and we also have the support of students and senior citizens,” said Tarik Osmanovic yesterday, field action coordinator.

Volunteers started the cleaning action from the Square of Freedom in Tuzla.
