According to the report, in the FBiH was sown 202,437 hectares in 2015/2016, which is by 2.7 % more in comparison to the previous season. The amount of produced grains was increased as well, and, for example, a total of 86,732 tons of wheat was produced, which represents an increase of 21.2 %.
When it comes to herbs and aromatic plants, thanks to the expansion of immortelle in Herzegovina, BiH is now among the top countries when it comes to exports of essential oils, and it can be included in the list of major Mediterranean producers. The area under the production of immortelle in 2016 was increased by 110 % compared to the previous year, and if they realize the plan for the next year, these areas will be further increased.
What immortelle represents in the field of herbs and aromatic plants, berries represent the same in the production of fruit in the FBiH. Areas on which are planted raspberries were increased by 86 %, and areas with blueberries by 148 % in comparison to 2015, while other species remain at the same level as last year.
Seed production in the FBiH also recorded an increase in 2016, especially when considering the catastrophic floods in 2014 and the extreme drought in 2015.
The production of food products in 2016, in comparison to 2015, was increased by 5.3 % in the FBiH, while the production of beverages was decreased by about 6 %. In the recommendations of the “Green Report” for 2016, among other things, was stated that it is necessary to allocate large budgetary funds for agriculture and food industry as well as to allocate additional funds for the payment of all the outstanding requests towards clients from the previous period.
