The Greek delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Theoharis Theoharis.
The talks focused on key aspects of relations between the two countries, including economic cooperation, the political situation and reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country’s path toward the European Union, as well as regional cooperation and stability. Both sides agreed that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece are traditionally strong and friendly, noting clear opportunities for further development. They underlined that regular consultations and high-level political dialogue play an important role in building trust and deepening cooperation.
Deputy Minister Brkić expressed gratitude to Greece for its continued and strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration, highlighting Greece’s role in promoting regional stability and the European perspective of Southeast Europe. He also addressed EU enlargement in the context of new geopolitical challenges, including the war in Ukraine, stressing the political and economic importance of integrating the Southeast European region into the EU.
Greek Deputy Minister Theoharis reiterated Greece’s interest in stronger engagement in regional economic cooperation, emphasizing the importance of investment in Southeast Europe. He offered additional support to Bosnia and Herzegovina by sharing Greece’s experience from its own EU accession process, noting that the two countries share a common strategic space. In this context, he highlighted the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April 2024 between Enterprise Greece and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA), which created a framework for linking investors and jointly promoting projects in the energy, infrastructure and tourism sectors.
The meeting also underscored the importance of continuing to organize economic forums and implementing concrete investment projects. Brkić pointed to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tourism potential and stressed the need to establish and strengthen direct air connections between the two countries.
