The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a proposal to determine a measure of custody for the suspect Simnad Bajrektarević, born in 1987 in Velika Kladuša, where he lives, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with multiple convictions.
A report was filed against the suspect by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), and it is suspected that a few days before the celebration of the religious holiday of Eid, on 4/7/2024 posted a public message on the social network, threatening the wider population, calling them “infidels”, “polytheists”, etc., by committing a terrorist attack on the lives of people, which was published with a photo of him in camouflage pants and with an automatic weapon, a knife and a black flag with Arabic letters and thus became available to users of the Internet and social networks.
After the announcement, the suspect was identified, located and deprived of liberty, and items and funds were taken from him, which will be used as evidence in the proceedings.
The suspect is under investigation for the criminal offense of terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, paragraph 1, points b) and c), i.e. the risk that the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offense or complete started.
At the hearing regarding the motion for custody, the acting prosecutor explained the reasons for custody in detail, after which the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered custody of the suspect, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
