The delegation of the Military Part of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO in Brussels, with family members, participated last weekend at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels at the NATO humanitarian bazaar ‘NATO Charity Bazaar’.
“NATO Charity Bazaar” operates under the auspices of the wives of the NATO Secretary General and the chair of the NATO Military Committee and organizes social events and activities to collect and distribute funds, which, based on competition, are awarded to applied projects from different countries, and for charitable purposes.
The operation of the bazaar takes place through several annual events, such as the preparation and sale of products characteristic of each country, after which the total proceeds are allocated to various charitable projects.
Considering that the Military part of the Mission of BiH to NATO, in the status of a full member, actively participated in the activities of the humanitarian organization “NATO Charity Bazaar”, it was possible for projects from BiH to apply for the distribution of collected funds. Thus, Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to apply to two projects this year, namely: the Project for the education of women, children and elderly persons with social difficulties “Count on us” and the Project for the sports engagement of children and youth from rural areas “OK Volero”.
The main and final event organized by “NATO Charity Bazaar” is the exhibition and sales bazaar, which takes place on the third weekend in November. At that event, each country had the opportunity to organize a stand to present its heritage, selling handicrafts, traditional food, drinks, and finished factory products that are characteristic of the country.
This year, Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by authentic products of companies from various parts of the country, which included food items, drinks, coffee, tea, leather products and handmade souvenirs. The interest in the offer at the BiH stand was beyond expectations, which resulted in excellent promotion of BiH products, revenue from sales, and therefore a financial contribution to the “NATO Charity Bazaar” project, which this year is significantly larger than the previous ones.
The BiH stand was visited by several thousand people, including top NATO officials, representatives of member states and partners, and representatives of the EU and other international organizations.
