Schalke 04 has taken an important step for its future by appointing Miron Muslic as the new head coach, after an extensive and carefully conducted selection process, the German club announced yesterday.
The 42-year-old expert comes from the English Championship club Plymouth Argyle. Muslic, who was born in Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), signed a contract with the German club until June 30th, 2027.
“First we created a clear profile of what we were looking for, and then we thoroughly searched the market as a team. In Miron Muslic, we found the kind of coach we wanted for Schalke 04. We are convinced that he is the right man for this situation. We are happy to welcome Miron to Schalke,” said Frank Baumann, who will officially take over the position of Board Member for Sports on June 1st.
“Miron impressed us with both his professional knowledge and communication skills. He knows how to motivate a group, and his working style is recognizable both on and off the field. His leadership and resilience were key in our conversations. With his qualities, he can help the entire team, as well as the individual development of our players. We are convinced that, with our support, he will be successful as the coach of Schalke 04,” added Baumann.
Muslic thanked his previous club for allowing him to enter into talks with Schalke.
“I am also very grateful to everyone at Schalke for the trust they have shown me. From the first contact, the talks were open and honest. Together with Frank Baumann, Youri Mulder, Ben Manga, and Matthias Tillmann, we talked in detail about what Schalke expects and how I can contribute. We are determined to turn that into reality, and I am ready to give my all with complete dedication and passion,” said Muslic.
The BiH expert will lead Schalke in their attempt to return to the Bundesliga from the 2nd German league, in which they are currently competing.
