A meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the European Union is being held in Brussels. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, responded to the invitation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Josep Borrell.
A discussion on the Western Balkans is also planned, and the focus of that item on the agenda will be the relations between Serbia and Kosovo and the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. After that, a working lunch is planned for the heads of diplomacy of the EU member states with their colleagues from the Western Balkan countries.
“The most important conclusion is that we are all very determined that the place of the Western Balkans is within the EU and that, unfortunately, due to the situation in Ukraine, there is some momentum for that process to happen faster than it has happened so far. It is very important for us that all the opponents of the enlargement policy are silenced – all the ministers spoke very unanimously and unitedly, advocating the expansion of the EU to the Western Balkans, which is a great opportunity for us,” said Minister Konaković.
Also, as announced by the ministry, it is planned that Konaković will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland Micheal Martin on the sidelines of the meeting.
