Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković stated that the Work Program of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted at today’s session in Sarajevo.
Addressing the media after the session, Konaković said that the Commission for the Suppression of Narcotic Drug Abuse was formed and consent was given to the Agreement on cooperation with Croatia in the field of professional and advisory support, as well as to the “BiH and EU for Health” Agreement.
He pointed out that “July 11 should be declared the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica throughout the world because of our future, not because of the past, and with the hope that such things will never happen again anywhere”.
Konaković stated that the meeting he invited Bosniak leaders from the whole region to on Friday, about the position and status of Bosniaks in the region, was attended by almost all invited to discuss the improvement of political cooperation.
He added that he was sorry “that the SDA and the SBiH turned it into a political farce because their vanity does not recognize the situation as a last resort”, and he invited them to at least send delegations if the leaders of those parties do not want to attend.
Konaković said that he is glad that NATO is much more ambitious and active towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also that he understands our specificity, according to which the need for political consensus is a problem for membership in such an alliance.
He believes that “it is a big mistake that SDA and DF agreed that BiH should move from the process of integration to the concept of cooperation with NATO”.
Konaković emphasized that he would personally prefer first membership in NATO and then in the EU, but that due to political circumstances, European integration is taking place faster.
The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, also adopted the Annex to the Agreement on the final disposition of all rights and obligations on movable property that will continue to be used for defense purposes (Doboj Agreement).
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of BiH will prepare the signing of the Annex to the Agreement with the representatives of the governments of the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska, and the Minister of Defense of BiH Zukan Helez has been appointed as the signatory on behalf of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The annex prescribes the procedure and introduces the commission sale and export of surplus movable property that is the property of Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with full respect for the constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the competences of all levels of government. It is about surplus weapons, ammunition and mine-explosives and secondary raw materials created in the process of their elaboration and/or destruction, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
As stated, in this way we want to enable the sale of surplus weapons, ammunition and mine-explosives, because significant financial resources have been allocated for their storage in warehouses in the past 14 years, with a loss of income.
The BiH Council of Ministers supported the efforts and activities of the Ministry of Defense to implement the “Perspective” program for the transition and care of dismissed personnel and the “Preventive” project for the protection of mental health and psychosocial assistance in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces (OS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024.
Previously, at the session, the Information on activities carried out in these areas in 2023 was adopted, Fena writes.
