The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, will be in the United States from 23 to 25 February, where, at the invitation of the National Energy Domination Council, he will participate in the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit, which will be held tomorrow in Washington.
The summit is hosted by the Chairman of the Council, US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and the Deputy Chairman, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this high-ranking gathering brings together ministers and CEOs of leading energy companies with the aim of strengthening transatlantic cooperation in the field of secure and diverse natural gas supplies in Europe. A special focus will be on reducing dependence on Russian energy products, expanding infrastructure and commercial arrangements along existing energy routes across Europe, increasing the flow of US LNG to Eastern Europe, and developing long-term contracts and investments that form the foundation of Europe’s energy security.
As part of the official summit program, the signing of a Joint Statement on Strengthening the Security of Natural Gas Supply in Central and Eastern Europe is planned, which expresses a joint commitment to diversifying sources and routes of supply, strengthening regional infrastructure, improving commercial arrangements, and long-term energy stability and security.
The statement will be signed by ministers and representatives of the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Bulgaria, Hungary, the Republic of Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United States of America.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister Konaković will hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior officials, the statement said.
