The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, held a meeting with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anas Abdulrahman O. Al Wasedy, who informed him about the current security situation in Saudi Arabia and the escalation of the conflict.
Minister Konaković strongly condemned the latest terrorist attacks by the Houthis on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, including the attack on the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, in which human lives were lost and a large number of civilians were injured. He emphasized that the targeting of civilian infrastructure is unjustified and that the protection of civilians and civilian objects is an obligation of all parties under international humanitarian law. He also warned that jeopardizing the safety of navigation in the Red Sea further destabilizes the region and has serious consequences for international trade.
Expressing solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia, Minister Konaković confirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s full support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He expressed the hope that the escalation will be stopped and that dialogue and diplomatic action will pave the way for a political solution that brings lasting peace and stability to the region. He stressed that such a solution must be based on respect for international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s own historical experience gives special weight to its commitment to peace and the protection of human life.
Ambassador Al Wasedy confirmed the firm, consistent and unequivocal support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with the principles of international law.
