The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sifet Podžić, said today that Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing another important decision at the end of this year, which relates to the continuation of the EUFOR/Althea mission.
“We hope that the permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) will not use the veto and that the Althea mission will continue,” Podžić told reporters in Sarajevo, answering a question in this regard.
He pointed out that in this respect he is encouraged by the strong messages of key people in NATO that, even in case of a possible veto in the UNSC, an adequate solution will be found for the continuation of the mission, that is, the presence of international forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Podžić recalled that in this context he received firm assurances at the NATO Summit in Madrid, when he was told that “there is a good answer for Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
