The basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated the Polish team tonight in the preparatory match in Hrasnica with 69:60.
The meeting served as a test for the selectors of both teams before the start of the second round of World Cup qualifiers. The chosen ones of coach Dario Gjergja have shown excellent form and are looking forward to the matches against Italy and Lithuania with optimism.
In tonight’s match against Poland, the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team dictated the pace for most of the match, in which they constantly had a score advantage. Bosnia and Herzegovina led by 18 points at the end of the first half, but the Poles continued to play and managed to get back to a single-digit deficit by the end of the third period, and soon to a deficit of only half a basket.
However, the first star of the BiH team, Jusuf Nurkić, returned a solid lead two minutes before the end of the match with six tied points. At the end of the match, Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to keep their composure and win against the team that “remained indebted” to them from the last Eurobasket when they celebrated in the round of 16 and won a place among the eight best teams.
The most effective in the BiH selection were Nurkić with 18, Atić with 11 and Alibegović with 10 points.
After the match in Hrasnica, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s basketball players will move to Tuzla, where they will play a training match against Sarajevo Bosnia on Sunday. On August 28, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Italy in Mejdan in Tuzla, and three days later they will host the Lithuanian national team in Vilnius.
