The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, has cancelled an extraordinary session on the Draft Budget of the Institutions of BiH and BiH’s International Obligations for 2025, which was scheduled to be held today. A new extraordinary session has been scheduled on the topic of Consideration of the Internal Political Situation in BiH in the Context of the Attack on the Constitutional Order, which was previously requested by BiH Presidency Members Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić.
Cvijanović cancelled the budget session at the proposal of the BiH Ministry of Finance, and stated that it is being postponed until further notice.
She cited the conclusion of the BiH Council of Ministers as the reason for this, which places the Ministry in charge of certain activities that may have financial implications, and is requesting a postponement until a final determination is made as to whether amendments to the Draft will be necessary.
This is the Conclusion of the Council of Ministers of BiH dated March 27, which mandates the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH to prepare, without delay and within 15 days at the latest, a proposal for a solution for the execution of payment of claims, that is, to settle the debt of the company Viaduct d.o.o. Portorož in the amount of 110,169,862.95 BAM. This debt amounted to that amount on March 1, 2025, and the daily interest per day amounts to 9,000 euros.
Failure to pay the debt has put air traffic in BiH at risk. The set deadline of 15 days is soon to expire and BiH will have to pay the debt, because, although the dispute arose between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Slovenian company Viaduct, the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been sued.
Let us recall that at the beginning of March, the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted a draft budget in the amount of 1.57 billion BAM.
